How your data is handled in 6:8.
Short version
6:8 is built for private reflection. We collect only what is needed to run the quiz, save or send your result when you ask, improve the product, and support purchases or accounts when those features are enabled. We do not sell your personal data.
Information you may provide
- Name or nickname used to personalize a quiz reading.
- Email address when you ask us to send a report, guide, account link, or app updates.
- Quiz answers, result type, scores, and preference signals used to generate your reading.
- Journal entries, prayers, values, reflections, saved wisdom, and practice notes inside the app.
- Support messages you send us, including the contact details you choose to include.
- Public Wisdom Web posts, comments, creator profile details, and the visibility choices you set.
- Creator payment onboarding status, sponsorship applications, moderation decisions, and transaction records.
Automatic and attribution data
If you allow analytics, we use PostHog to collect limited device, browser, app version, page, referral, campaign, and event data such as quiz started, quiz completed, report requested, download clicked, and purchase status. Analytics is off until you choose to allow it. We disable session replay and automatic interaction capture, remove URL query strings and opaque identifiers, and do not send names, email addresses, journal or reflection text, or individual quiz answers.
Ad attribution in the iPhone app
If you allow tracking when iOS asks, the 6:8 iPhone app lets AppsFlyer use your device’s advertising ID to learn which ad or link brought you to 6:8, so we spend less on ads. AppsFlyer also receives app events such as onboarding finished, trial started, and subscription purchased. It never receives your journal, reflections, check-ins, or anything you write. Say no and the app works exactly the same; attribution then uses Apple’s privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork. You can change this any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
How we use data
- Generate and save quiz results, readings, daily practices, and aligned action suggestions.
- Send requested reports, guides, account links, product updates, and support responses.
- Maintain safety, prevent abuse, debug errors, and understand which funnels work.
- Process subscriptions, trials, restores, and entitlements through the app stores when live.
- Review public wisdom and sponsorships, prevent fraud, calculate creator totals, and maintain the Giveback ledger.
Your entries are stored locally on your device by default where the product supports it. Some account, quiz-lead, purchase, email, analytics, or AI-assisted features may require secure cloud processing by our service providers. Shared content is only shared when you explicitly choose to share.
Wisdom Web posts and profiles are public only when you publish or enable public profile visibility. Exact earnings are private by default. You can separately control public payout and sponsorship visibility. Stripe and Whop process paid products, subscriptions, creator onboarding, tips, refunds, and payouts. Six Eight does not receive or store full card numbers.
The live Wisdom map shows country-level activity only. It does not publish names or precise locations. We use a private salt to turn a short-lived session signal into a non-identifying presence key, then expire old presence records. Sponsorship applications retain submitted contact, destination, screening, and review information so we can make and audit approval decisions.
AI features and who receives your words
AI features in the 6:8 app run only after you agree in the app, and you can turn them off in Settings › Privacy › AI replies. Until you agree, or after you turn them off, nothing you write or say is sent to an AI service. Replies are then written on your phone and read by the iOS voice.
When you agree, these services receive what each feature needs:
- OpenRouter, which passes text to DeepSeek, or to Anthropic or OpenAI if DeepSeek can’t answer. It receives your Guardian messages, a practice summary, your Guardian’s short notes, recent journal notes if you allow that, journal entries you ask your Guardian to reflect on, Genie wishes, and the onboarding answer you send, with your name and the answers you gave just before it.
- OpenAI turns replies into speech, and receives your voice live during a Guardian call, together with your name, what you shared in onboarding and practice, and your Guardian’s notes. 6:8 does not record call audio. If you ask for a voice-note summary, its transcript goes to OpenAI too.
Private vault entries never leave your phone. Speech you dictate is transcribed on your device. Calls and voice-note summaries each ask for their own permission first.
AI-generated text is for reflection prompts and action suggestions only, not medical, legal, financial, or mental health advice.
Temple tools (Tune, Inner Script, Shadow Work) support personal growth and self-reflection only. They are not medical, mental health, diagnostic, or therapeutic services.
